Backup Batteries
Batteries can be a cost-effective backup solution for brief outages.

A three-hour battery is sufficient for about 50% of outage events. For many organizations, this is enough because longer outages are typically due to extreme weather that force facility closures anyway. For organizations that must operate during longer outages, such as hospitals, nursing homes, food storage, and emergency centers – a fossil-fueled backup generator may be a more appropriate solution.
A battery with a genset can provide cost-effective coverage for short and long outages – The battery handles short outages, and the generator supports critical operations over extended periods while recharging the battery. This combination of covering the entire load for a couple of hours and only the critical equipment for long periods represents the way most organizations operate.
